- Blue Lakes Trout Derby - April 28-29th, 2007 - This will be the 20th annual Trout Derby sponsored by the Blue Lakes Association. Many prizes are donated by local merchants and individuals, with the proceeds going to support our volunteer firemen, emergency medical personnel and the Blue Lakes Community Projects. Last year, total weight for two days was 9.2 pounds and the longest fish measured 16.5 inches. The entrance fee is only $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children, and day use is free for Derby entrants! Contact the narrows lodge for Derby registration, and cabin, room, or RV reservations.
- Bicycling - The bicyclist can enjoy a great ride down Scotts Valley Road to Lakeport and back. This ride can be tailored from easy to more difficult and almost any length to satisfy the needs of all riders. Bicycle maps are available.
- Golf - Lake County offers five golf courses and Ukiah and Willits offer one more each, all of which will challenge your ability and stretch your skills. Within just a short drive of The Narrows, you can tee off on some of the best golf courses in the country and do so without the hurried pace of city clubs. There are five 9-hole and two 18-hole courses to choose from, all without waiting lines and at very reasonable prices. In a week you can play a different course every day.
- Wine Tasting - The wine industry in both Lake and Mendocino Counties includes the premier wineries within the state. In Lake County we have Steele, Guenoc (the home of Lily Langtree), Ployez Winery and Wildhurst. In Mendocino County within a short distance is Parducci, Fetzer, McDowell, Dunnewood Vineyards and many smaller wineries. Many of the wineries have tasting rooms and welcome guests to enjoy their wines and to learn while tasting.
- Off Road Vehicle Driving - The Off Road Vehicle trail from Upper Lake to Covelo and both Elk Mountain and South Cow Mountain offer excellent off road areas for the enthusiast and are located within a short distance of The Narrows. This is really convenient for the rider with a family that might be interested in fishing, swimming or other activities. While staying at The Narrows the whole family can have a good time.
- Lake County Indian Casinos - Lake County offers Nevada-style casinos with something for everyone. The gaming activities range from nickel, dime and quarter “slot Machines” to blackjack and poker tables. One casino is located just nine miles from Blue Lakes also offers bingo. Each location serves food and beverages and hosts special activities throughout the year.

At The Narrows, fishing Blue Lakes for trout, large mouth bass, catfish and bluegill can be relaxing and very rewarding in terms of the catch. Bring your children or grandchildren and teach them how to fish. You will be making a significant contribution to their well being and future. You can fish from our docks or from a boat. We have rowboats, motor boats, a patio boat, paddle boats, kayaks and canoes for rent at reasonable rates.
